THE ENGLERT THEATRE PRESENTS INTIMATE SERIES PERFORMANCE WITH CLASSICAL PIANIST NATHAN CARTERETTE

IOWA CITY, IA – The Englert Theatre announces that on March 8, 2014, classical pianist Nathan Carterette will return to Iowa City to perform J.S. Bach’s notoriously complex “Goldberg Variations” as part of the Englert’s limited-capacity Intimate Series. Performances will take place at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and free tickets are available to children/teens 18 and under.

Like the Englert’s presentations of the Kronos Quartet in 2012, violinist Katie Wolfe this past fall, and composer Philip Glass later this spring, Carterette’s appearance marks both the organization’s ongoing commitment to present classical and new music, as well as its mission to support talented, emerging artists.

“For lovers of classical music, this is an assured treat, but we also encourage first-timers to attend this special performance,” said Englert Executive Director Andre Perry.

Carterette’s performance is part of the Intimate at the Englert Series, in which audience members sit on stage with the artist, thus offering the rare opportunity to experience superior artistry in an up-close, personal setting.

This programming is made possible with support by Ellen Widiss. The Englert Intimate Series is sponsored by Hands Jewelers, with additional support from Little Village.

The Englert Theatre is a community arts center and performance space that enhances the vitality of Iowa City’s historic downtown as its last historic theater. The Englert Theatre provides diverse programming, educational opportunities and exposure to the performing and visual arts. The organization strives to highlight the talents of local performers, artists and ensembles as well as hosting regional, national and international touring performances.
