Description
MusicIC - A Festival of Chamber Music Inspired by Literature - presents Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire which premiered in 1912. The work is based on 21 poems and was written for soprano and a chamber ensemble. This performance will include projects of the translations of the songs, lighting and costuming which will evoke the premiere performance.
MusicIC is the second in an annual series of festivals that focus on music for small ensembles inspired by works of literature, both prose and poetry. This theme is articulated in the festival's subtitle—Where Music and Literature Meet. The literary sources for the music will be read or projected during the concerts as well as being available in the festival playbill and on the MusicIC website.
