James Lecesne is an American actor, author, screenwriter, and LGBT rights activist who co-founded The Trevor Project. His one-man play The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey celebrates the theme of becoming your authentic self through a young man’s interactions with a small-town community.
Absolute Brightness has been described as “hilarious, heartbreaking, magical and ultimately uplifting”, and a performance which the New York Times called: “Remarkable! A dazzling beacon of theatrical talent! Leaves you beaming with joy!”
This one-night special event is co-sponsored by Summer of the Arts and Iowa City Pride. Proceeds will benefit both organizations.
